In a previous post, I talked about the phenomenon of recognizing next stages of tech evolution and feeling impatient for them. OK, I’ll be looking back on DVDs in the not too distant future, thinking “remember when…?”

Here’s the first discussion I’ve seen about this applied to the telephone number. Really, I can anticipate a time when they’ll seem as nostalgically quaint as running down to the Blockbuster to rent a VHS tape. How long will that be?
